Nick comes from a sports science background and holds a PhD in Sports Science from the University of Wales, Swansea.

He has been training personally using the CrossFit method since 2008 which led very quickly to the affiliation of CrossFit Velocity in December of that year.

Nick’s main sporting interests other than CrossFit lie within rugby and golf (5 handicap). He received Wales rugby caps at Under 18 and Student level and played for Narberth RFC, Dunvant RFC, Neath RFC and Llanelli RFC during his career.
Nick firmly believes in teaching consistency of skills and acknowledges the CrossFit mantra of “leave your ego at the door” as being the key to achieving fitness gains in the long term.

Chris has been using the CrossFit training method since 2011 and has been a CrossFit coach at RCFV since the summer of 2013. He is also an experienced Strength and Conditioning Coach and Personal Trainer.

Chris comes from a sporting background where he played rugby for Swansea RFC both professionally and semi professionally for over 12 years with nearly 200 appearances for the famous club.

His other hobbies outside of CrossFit are surfing and spending time with his Fiancé Kelly, daughters Taylor and Molly and Labrador Hawley.

Andy is originally from Cornwall but came to Swansea to study Biochemistry and Genetics at university in 1998. He met his wife in his last year of uni and stayed in Wales. Andy is now head of Physics at Ysgol Bro Dinefwr in Llandeilo. He always played rugby from a young age, playing for school, local clubs and county. During university Andy played rugby league and roller hockey. After retiring from rugby in 2012 due to increased family commitments he struggled to maintain the fitness developed through playing an active sport. It was then that he discovered CrossFit and has never looked back.

Like many Andy wishes he had discovered CrossFit earlier and he is enthusiastic about passing on the knowledge he has gained from experienced coaches and seminars. He loves CrossFit and finds it hard to say just one thing about how good it is and how it has changed his life for the better. CrossFit for Andy is about:

Community , challenge, fun and being able to stay active with my family as I get older.

 

Caleb MilesCaleb Miles

Cal comes from a rugby playing background but found the CrossFit training method in 2012 and hasn’t looked back since.  He has coached in RCFV since 2014.  Cal specifically enjoys training and coaching Olympic Lifting and tailors his own training around the Olympic Lifts.

Personal CrossFit training experience since 2009.  Has been coaching Crossfit since 2011 at 3 different successful CrossFit affiliates.  2 years coaching experience in the Canary Islands where he was head coach at an affiliate for 15 months and later manager of a different affiliate for a further 7 months, before deciding to return home. Has attended numerous nutrition seminars including a sepcific event with two of the worlds leading nutritionists (Dr Graeme L. Close and Dr James Morton).

1st place finisher at the ‘lanzarote throwdown’ in 2014.  Somewhat of a weightlifting fanatic and lover of all things iron!

 

Jonny DaviesJonny Davies

Personal CrossFit training experience since late 2013.  Jonny played semi-professional rugby with Neath RFC before injury forced early retirement.  Since finding CrossFit he hasn’t looked back and has progressed into a valuable member of the coaching team at RCFV.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Becky Hickman

CF-L1 Trainer

Becky has been in the fitness industry since 2008, working as a fitness instructor in numerous gyms. she started training at CrossFit Velocity in 2013 which was when she obtained her level 1. Becky is married with 2 children and enjoys training with her husband. She currently runs a successful beach bootcamp in Llanelli and still works as a group training instructor as well as a personal trainer.  Becky also holds a blue belt in Tae Kwon Do and a brown belt in Kickboxing.
